“Illuminating the Way: Religious Art and the Sacred Journey” – Crossroads of Theology Series

September 26 @ 5:15 pm - 7:00 pm

Join us on Thursday, September 26 at 5:15 p.m. for the third lecture in the series “Crossroads of Theology,” hosted and organized by Regis College theology students.

This lecture, “Illuminating the Way: Religious Art and the Sacred Journey” is presented by Regis College Professor Fr. Gordon Rixon, SJ. Turning the pages of a rare, art-quality, facsimile (Heritage Edition) of the St. John’s Bible, Fr. Gordon reflects on the role of religious art in the Sacred Journey. Completed in 2011 by Master Calligrapher Donald Jackson and a team of twelve artists, the St. John’s Bible employs medieval artistic techniques to create the first Christian Bible to be hand-scribed and hand-illuminated in over five hundred years. Participants will learn about the handling of rare books and have the opportunity to turn the pages of several volumes of the Heritage Edition.

Following the lecture, there will be a reception with free food and great company! This is an excellent opportunity to meet fellow students who are studying around the GTA. Don’t want to go alone? Bring a friend! The more the merrier!

Please make sure to register so we can ensure that there is plenty of food to go around. Registration is open to students of any age and non-students 35 and under. University students and young professionals are encouraged to come out for an evening of fellowship, learning and community!
